Will you fly…again?
July 7th, 2006 by ptmI’m not going to get into my pending viewing of the new Pirates of the Caribbean flick tonight. I’m glad I grabbed tickets and I’m stoked to see it, but I’m slightly concerned that it’ll be an inevitable letdown. The first one was so great because nobody thought it would be, but yet somehow it was. If I go in thinking the second one will be great and it’s only pretty good…well, again, I don’t want to really think about it. It’s pirates, it’s Depp, it’s Keira, it’s PIRATES! We’ll be fine.
Anyway, the point of this blog post…there was an incident of scrapbook perusing last night. Said perusing uncovered a class photo of the 1982-1983 students at the Peter Pan Nursery School, located at the corner of Upham and Gooch Streets in Melrose, MA. While I haven’t been able to obatin a direct copy of the full class photographs, I did use my camera phone to capture this somewhat blurry yet historic image:

Man, we were dapper back then. Seriously, I sort of look exactly the same. I’d even wear that collar/sweater combo nowadays. I’m looking fly. (And I’m not 100% sure that’s Erik…Erik should be in the picture, and that looks the most like him. He can feel free to correct me if I’m wrong, but I’m pretty sure that’s him.)
Anyway, it’s funny to think of how much has happened in the intervening 23 years and how much we’ve changed and blah blah. But…well, there we were. And here we are. What a strange trip.

Voicemail just left for me by one Erik Meserve: “You’re goddamn right that’s me!” So we have confirmation. Amazing.
